This page consists of game projects that I was involved in when I was studying Game Development.

The Last Message (2020)

A quick game project showcase made for Game Narrative class.

My project is called 'The Last Message'.

Heavily influenced by series I love, Angel Beats, AnoHana, Games made by FreebirdGames (To the Moon, Finding Paradise) , Pixar's Coco etc.

I wanted to create a game around the theme of 'having the courage to move on' and 'conveying your feelings before it's too late'.

This project follows the POV of a messenger that sends people's 'after thoughts' and 'mournings' that manifests into a 'letter'. 

These 'letters' are sent to the ones who have passed known as 'spirits'.

 

Upon receiving the 'letter' the spirit will regain all of their memories, no matter happy or unhappy ones. Then, these spirits will decide if they want to move on to another life to forget these painful pasts or stay as a spirit to cherish the memories.

However, the keeper of the spirit world is not happy having many spirits over-populating the spirit world and the player have to meet the quota of making sure the population doesn't get anymore dense. What will the player do?

Morphic Re:Sonance (2020)

Second game project made together in a group during my degree in 2020.

 

We are given the theme of 'isolation' and to be made for a mobile platform. We were thinking if we should provide a comfort for this trying times in the current covid pandemic or creating a sense of fear, something like the game - When we were here.

 

We decided to go through with the sense of fear hrough puzzles as there is only 2 of us artists and will be less stressful in creating the 3D assets

However, due to the covid pandemic, we faced the difficulty of being able to meet each other to talk and work on the project as a team. We are very grateful to be able to still commute through Discord and complete this game project in due time!

Pantang (2020)

First game project made together in a group during my degree in 2020.

 

The theme is Baba Nyonya and limited to photo cutout art style. We each come out with ideas on what to do and make sketches/reference boards to present our ideas, I focus on the Baba Nyonya restaurant idea. While the restaurant idea is rejected, we were very happy that the idea we wanted to work on most, 'Pantang' was chosen!

 

We wanted to make a horror game based on the local taboos (also known as pantang in malay! the origin of our game title haha) in Malaysia and Baba Nyonya culture. We also had the advantage of having a one-day trip to Malacca to research and get the photo materials we needed for our game assets, which made the behind the scenes quite an experience.

 

We artists are mainly tasked to take photos for our game assets, clean them up to be ready to be placed in Unity. I had an extra task in making UI and the Pause Menu (the notebook).

Project Lab Escape (2019)

A collaborative assignment of pixel art project and stencyl programming project.

The game setting and design is inspired by an existing music video called Stella by Fling Posse.

I recreated a non-canon story of the main character trying to escape the lab that is now taken over by rouge robots for this game.

Unfortunately, I don't have my stencyl game file anymore but here are the assets used for the game! 

Tower Defense UI Assignment (2019)

UI thumbnails created for UI, UX class.

Genre: Tower Defense

Target Audience: Someone who loves art

Potato Run (2019)

Joined a game jam in May 2019, where we were given 2 days to make a game.

Game Jam Theme: Fighting Fate

Our game is a 2D endless run game playing as a potato running away from getting cooked (its fate).

A team of 6, using unity engine.


I handled the character design, animations, helped out with one of the obstacles, title and game over screen.
